System Overview
The Canstar IDEC Cooling System is a two-stage hybrid cooling solution combining Indirect Evaporative Cooling (IEC) and Direct Evaporative Cooling (EAC) to achieve maximum cooling efficiency with minimal energy consumption.
-
Indirect Cooling Stage (IEC):
-
Warm ambient air passes through an indirect heat exchanger.
-
Heat is reduced without adding humidity, ensuring dry, cool air.
-
Typical result: From 36°C, 30% RH to approx. 22°C, 65% RH (refer to diagram).
-
-
Direct Cooling Stage (EAC):
-
The pre-cooled air then enters a direct evaporative cooling media.
-
Water evaporation further drops the air temperature.
-
Typical result: From 22°C to 19°C, 85% RH (refer to diagram).
-
Technical Performance
-
Cooling Efficiency: 120%–135% W.B. efficiency
-
Air Quality: Delivers 100% fresh air
-
Humidity Control: Maintains acceptable humidity level for comfort without excessive moisture.
-
Energy Usage: Significantly lower than conventional refrigeration-based air conditioning.
-
Eco-Friendly: Utilizes water as a cooling medium, reducing carbon footprint.
Diagram Explanation
Step 1: Warm Air Intake
-
Ambient air (36°C, 30% RH, 12.5g/kg) enters the IDEC system.
Step 2: Indirect Cooling
-
Through IEC module:
-
Heat is rejected via water evaporation on the other side of the heat exchanger.
-
Air is cooled without moisture gain.
-
Output: Cool air at ~22°C, 65% RH, 12.5g/kg.
-
Step 3: Direct Cooling
-
Through EAC media:
-
Water evaporates directly into the airflow.
-
Temperature drops further.
-
Output: Cooler air at ~19°C, 85% RH, 14.5g/kg.
-
Step 4: Exhaust
-
Heated air from the evaporation process is exhausted outside.
Key Benefits
-
Maximum Cooling: Combines two cooling principles for enhanced performance.
-
Lower Operational Costs: Up to 70% energy savings compared to traditional HVAC.
-
Improved Comfort: Cooler supply air than IEC alone.
-
Better IAQ (Indoor Air Quality): 100% fresh air with dust and particle reduction.
-
Eco-Conscious: Reduced CO₂ emissions and refrigerant usage.
Ideal Applications
-
Industrial Facilities: Printing factories, welding workshops, spray coating areas.
-
Commercial Spaces: Malls, supermarkets, theaters, multipurpose halls.
-
Educational Institutions: Schools and classrooms with high CO₂ levels.
-
